What is syndication?
Content syndication is a way of distributing contents automatically to users that frequently access certain pages, without having to actually enter each one. These contents are distributed through some channels, commonly called "feeds" which the user can subscribe to. The applications which allow you to sign up to and read these channels come under different names, although the most common are "news readers", "feed adders", "channel readers" or "feed readers".
News Readers
News readers or feed adders are programs that allow you to sign up and read the channels or feeds. They compile updates on websites that the users have previous signed up to and they display the most recent content of each of these sites, either as a headline, summary or complete text, including image, audio or video files. They therefore give users quick access to new contents on websites, blogs, newspapers, etc. which they have signed up for. There are numerous readers and they can be a desktop program which is installed in the PC or a web based application.

How to become syndicated
How is it possible to recognise which sites and information on the Internet have RSS format? Very simple, given that the feeds are usually indicated on websites with small boxes which include the letters "RSS" or icons such as the one used on this site:
- If you have a preset reader in the browser or a desktop reader, press the RSS icon and the syndication channel will be added automatically.
- If you use a web reader you will probably have to enter the RSS address of the channel to syndicate yourself. If you have any questions, please refer to the help section on your reader.
